Breast Reconstruction : Breast reconstruction is an operation to replace the breast(s) that is lost during mastectomy (removal of a breast), or lumpectomy (removal of part of the breast). Breast Reconstruction is done to try to rebuild the breast shape with the aim to match the remaining natural breast as closely as possible. Breast reconstruction can either be done by creating a breast `form' with an implant which is placed beneath the skin and muscle that covers your chest, or by using skin, fat and muscle from another part of your body. Once the breast reconstruction has been completed the nipple reconstruction process begins. Browse our site for more information on breast reconstruction options.
